Dove Street Community Arts Festival

Celebrating Who We Are and Where We Live

On the second weekend of September, Dove Street in central Bristol is host to its first ever Community Arts Festival.

Organised by the Dove Street Action Group, the Festival opens on Friday 9th September with an evening event in the Snail Gallery, Dove Street's very own exhibition space. On Saturday 10th September the annual Street Party offers music, dancing, stalls and activities for all the family. The Festival ends on Sunday 11th with further activities and another chance to view the exhibits.

On show during the Festival will be artwork produced by members and friends of the local community.

The work will include specially commissioned audio and visual pieces, performances and an exhibition in the Snail Gallery as well as the Trail itself around Dove Street.

Friday 9th September Snail Gallery 6.30 - 8.30 p.m.:

  • Free food and drink
  • Rik Lander's video installation "Where Do We Stand?" plus the return of
    "Talking Rubbish"
  • Art on the walls and tables and floors
  • Storytelling by Alana
  • Angus Morton's "Recording the Journey"
  • Frédéric Maintenant's new musical composition "We Are Almost Reaching The
    Clouds"

Saturday 10th Sept:

  • Snail Gallery open 11.30 a.m. - 1.30 p.m
  • 1.30 p.m. meet at the Snail Gallery for a
    dragon procession around Dove Street
  • Street Party 2 - 9 p.m. - see below

Sunday 11th September:

  • Snail and trail open 12 noon - 5 p.m
  • 2 p.m. Nanoplex presents "Telling Tales!" - a walking story exploration
    led by Harry Palmer - children and adults meet in the Cube car park
